Our Founder: An Experienced Nurse and Lawyer who understands Medical Injuries and their Causes
Diane M. Matthews, RN, Esq., is the founding attorney of Matthews Law Group, a Sacramento, California, law firm serving clients throughout California and nationwide. In addition to being an experienced medical malpractice and vaccine litigation lawyer, she is a registered nurse with 30 years of experience in intensive care units, post-surgical units, emergency rooms, and post-operative floors. For more than two decades, she has been transporting patients as a critical care ambulance nurse, which is the ground version of life flight.
Ms. Matthews' education is as solid as her experience. She holds a dual Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Economics from the esteemed Samuel Merritt School of Nursing and St. Mary's College of California. She keeps current in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS,) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS.) She earned her law degree with a specialty in Trial Advocacy from University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law.
She is licensed to practice in California and admitted to the United States Federal Court Eastern District, the United States Federal Court of Claims, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

As an active member of the American Association for Justice and a sustaining member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, Ms. Matthews works toward changing the inadequate medical malpractice laws in California to protect patients from harm. This includes support for the Troy and Alana Pack Patient Safety Act of 2014.
Ms. Matthews has a long history of advocating for patients through her professional work as a nurse and lawyer and public advocacy such as legislative reforms to California's broken and outdated medical malpractice laws.
